Chevron Traffic Management has been crowned the winner of the Crisis Response Award in the British Safety Council International Safety Awards 2021. The honour was awarded to the traffic management company for its efforts in protecting its employees from the risk of injury and ill health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations and individuals from around the world who have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health. The awards also recognise organisations and individuals that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.
Speaking about the award, Jamie Bowen, Head of ESG and Improvement for Chevron TM, commented: “Chevron TM is honoured to receive this award in what has been a very challenging year. It is testament to the leadership and teamwork across our business which not only ensure safe working practices and wellbeing support for all our employees, but also introduced new COVID-19 services and community support for disadvantaged areas in which we operate.”
In 2021, 387 organisations from the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East won an International Safety Award. However, only a very select number were crowned overall special award winners.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Chevron TM on their success in being crowned overall Crisis Response Winner in the International Safety Awards 2021.
“The British Safety Council commends Chevron TM on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health. They have gone above and beyond in dedicating additional time, resources and commitment to ensuring their work, teams and workplaces remained healthy and safe during 2020 amid a global pandemic.”
“I would also like to say thank you to all the organisations who took time to apply for these awards and to our panel of judges who volunteered to adjudicate them.”
“It is our vision at the British Safety Council that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. By sharing the achievements of the winners of these awards, we can inspire other employers everywhere to follow their lead and give workers’ health, safety and wellbeing the priority it rightly deserves.”
