Chevron wins in the Performance Category at Kier’s Area 3 Supply Chain Community Awards
Chevron was in attendance at Kier’s recent Area 3 Supply Chain Workshop and Awards Evening and we are pleased to announce that we came away with award for Performance Excellence’ for our new Airlock Gate System.
An airlock Gate system is a sterile area consisting of road traffic cones and barriers which permits the passage of people, vehicles and objects between two areas via a series of gates which do not open simultaneously.
The system can be used on full road closures, multiple lane closures and on single lane closures if certain criteria is met. This can be ascertained at ECI stage by the Design/ Delivery Manager.
The primary purpose of an airlock is to provide a system to allow authorised works traffic to safely access the site and to ‘control’ errant drivers therefore preventing interaction between them and the contractor. With an airlock system installed it can and will help to reduce the risk of danger to our workforce!
An additional benefit of the airlock is to provide a ‘hold area’ where site information can be given to contractors as well as site delivery drivers. For example site transport plans and site contact and safety information. Working with Kier to make work sites safer.
